In April 2025, the Climate Stories Collaborative, in partnership with the Pathways to Resilience Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), hosted an inspiring series of events in celebration of Earth Week—including our most vibrant Climate Stories Showcase to date!
This year’s showcase, held April 22–May 1 in Room 112 of the Plemmons Student Union, featured powerful works of climate-themed artistic expression by students and faculty across disciplines. Visitors explored a wide range of media—drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video, book and zine projects, and more. Performance pieces came to life on Earth Day and again during the April 24 showcase reception, where student and faculty performers shared poetry, short plays, and spoken word on the Crossroads Café stage.
A highlight of the week was the visit by acclaimed climate artist and science communicator Jill Pelto, who led a hands-on workshop in data-art and joined a faculty Lunch & Learn panel to discuss how art and science can come together to deepen climate learning. Additional Earth Day events included interactive t-shirt printing with the App State Printmaking Club and a powerful performance of Climate of Change, directed by Dr. Gina Grandi and performed by Theatre & Dance students.
